On this posts, we will be discussing on reasons why we choose to change the medium of the advertisement from video format (on Youtube) to print media ( Billboards, magazine & newspaper ads).
Firstly, here are some of the disadvantages on the current advert being on youtube.
1) The ad requires more attraction to get more views as it is based on searches and pop up links on the side. Videos need to have a concept that can allure the audience from beginning (especially) to end. Hence, if people do not search for it and the concept of the video or the starting of the video lacks attraction. The ad will not successfully be delivered to the people. (Conner, 2012)
2) Youtube works in a way that it considers newer videos as the top rated hits. Videos only have a shelf life of two days before it is removed from the daily most viewed list to the weekly most viewed. Thus it is much harder for ads to continuously get consistent number of views from audience. (Conner, 2012)
These are the reasons why we feel it should be re-design to print media ( Billboards, magazine & newspaper ads).
1) Optimum Impact
Billboards create a big impact to viewers, not just by the first glance. Billboards are
placed at strategic locations with heavy traffic causing drivers and passerby's of the
road/highway to notice it. Some might even see the ad on a daily basis as they use the
road to work or school. A major share of drivers, passengers and potential customers of a
product are impressed due to the billboard and cause to hire/purchase the product or
service. Billboards does not limit visibility, thus the more the visibility, the more the reach. (Sathishisaac, 2011)
2) Specific target audience & high reach prospectives
Print Media such as Magazines have a specific target audience it reaches out to. This enhances sale opportunities and figures. As for example, a fashion magazine would highlight products on cosmetic accessories and new fashion campaigns from brands. As for Axe, it can appear in men's fashion, health and sports magazines to cater the needs and style of its readers. Further more, magazines get a high reach prospective because magazines get passed from family members to friends to colleagues and so on. Thus, more people would come across advert.
